Dr. Yi Chang is a Taiwanese pianist, educator, and researcher whose work explores multiculturalism in piano literature, pedagogy, and performance practice. He was recently featured as a lecturer at the 2025 Gateways Music Festival at Carnegie Hall and the Eastman School of Music, a premier event dedicated to celebrating and supporting African American classical musicians. Chang’s scholarly presentations have been featured at leading conferences, including the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) National Conference, the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy (NCKP), and the Festival junger Künstler Bayreuth in Germany. His co-authored session, New Sounds in Chinese Piano Music: An Exciting Direction in Multi-Culturalism, was published in the 2022 MTNA November e-Journal, and his collaborative presentation, Exploring Folk Music Through Piano Duets: Accessible Four-Handed Pieces Inspired by Traditional Music Elements, was published in the 2023 NCKP Conference Proceedings. 

As a performer, Chang has received prizes from competitions including the IPPA Conero International Piano Competition and the 2022 Memphis International Piano Competition, and was a semifinalist in the 2023 Teresa Carreño International Master Piano Competition. He has appeared at venues including Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and as a guest artist in various recital series such as the 2022 Washington International Piano Festival at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He currently serves on the piano faculty at Tuskegee University, a renowned Historically Black College and University (HBCU), and previously served on the board of the Kansas City Music Teachers Association (KCMTA).
